Autocomplete

Displayed as Autocomplete Clicks, this report shows engagement with suggestions in the autocomplete dropdown. Use it to compare suggestion types and identify the terms associated with frequently selected suggestions.

Suggestion categories

• Top Facets suggests matching facet values, such as brand or category. Selecting a value refines the search results.
• Popular Searches suggests previously searched keywords that match the current input. Selecting a suggestion performs a search for that term.
• Top Product Matches displays matching products.
• Top Content Matches displays matching pages, articles, or other content.

Use the actual Suggestion Type and Suggestion Name values in your report to distinguish the categories recorded by your implementation.

What the report shows

The comparison cards show Total Clicks on Autocomplete and Keywords Count for their labeled periods.

The daily clicks trend compares the suggestion series displayed in its legend. Suggestion Type Clicks Distribution shows how clicks are distributed across types. Select a type to focus Top 10 Keywords by Clicks and review the associated terms.

The Keywords table includes Keyword, Suggestion Type, Suggestion Name, and Clicks. Use the combination of those fields to understand the recorded autocomplete interaction.

How to use the report

1. Review the trend to identify changes in autocomplete engagement.
2. Select a suggestion type in the donut chart.
3. Inspect the top-clicked terms and the detail table for that context.
4. Review those suggestions on the site to check wording, matching, and destination quality.
5. Export the detail table when reviewing autocomplete configuration with your team.

Interpreting the results

This report measures clicks on autocomplete suggestions. Those are a different interaction from clicks on the full search-results page. Keep them separate when comparing with Top Queries or Click Position.

Click distribution shows where recorded engagement occurs; it does not establish how often each suggestion was shown or whether a suggestion caused a purchase. Review the displayed volumes before drawing conclusions about a type's effectiveness.
