Sorting
Displayed as Sorting Tracking, this report compares the sorting sets and options associated with search activity. Use it to understand how customers browse results and which sorting contexts accompany cart and sales activity.
What the report shows
The summary cards display Searches, Search to Sale Conversion, and Attributed Revenue for their labeled periods.
Sorting Sets Usage shows the share of recorded search volume associated with each sorting set. Hover over a slice for the attributed revenue described by the visual, or select a slice to review its details.
Sorting Set Field Metrics shows the sorting field with search, cart, and sale counts. A sorting set groups the options available to customers; a sorting field identifies an option such as Best Match, Most Popular, or Price Low to High.
The Keywords table lists the keyword, sorting field, and search count. Select a row in Sorting Set Field Metrics to view the associated keywords.
How to use the report
- Select the period and, if relevant, a landing page.
- Review the sorting-set distribution to identify the dominant contexts.
- Select a set and compare its available fields.
- Select a field to inspect the search terms associated with it.
- Review the site's actual result ordering before deciding whether to change a default option, label, or sorting rule.
Interpreting the results
Search Count describes activity recorded with a sorting context. It should not be interpreted as a count of distinct people who deliberately changed their sort order; a default option may account for substantial activity.
Cart and sales counts can represent multiple downstream events. Their relationship to search volume should be read within this report's attribution scope. Differences between sorting options can also reflect different products or customer intent, so compare similar contexts before deciding which option performs better.
When a comparison displays Div/0, inspect the current and prior values directly instead of treating it as a valid percentage change.
